Wafula’s Story:

I was born in Wangobo village, Busia District in Uganda. When I was young, I lived with both  of my parents and had three fellow siblings, my eldest sibling being disabled. As time went on, our second born died. I was too young to know why she died and no one ever told me. When I was 5 years old, our last born also died but again I did not know the cause of death. Later on, my mother, father, and sister and I went to live with my uncle so they could help us.

In 2008, my mother became very ill and she  finally passed away in 2010 and she was buried in some place in Jinja. My uncle’s income was not enough to sustain us , so he gave us away to the police, who later took us to a church in Walukuba-Masese. They saw my sister was disabled and brought me with her to aunt Edith’s house (Home of Hope for disabled children). This home was just letting me stay there until I could find a place to live permanently. In 2012, Peace for Paul gave me a permanent place to call home.
