Apurio’s Story:

Apurio’s father died in the war in Moroto. Her mother tried to care for Apurio and her sister Agnes, but without any education or training was unable to get a job. Before joining Peace for Paul, Apurio was left in the slums of Masese with her (slightly) older sister, Agnes while her mother spent the day begging on the streets of Jinja. In the slums there was never enough food or any of the basic necessities and Apurio has always gone without. Now, thanks to their sponsor, both girls  finally have the life that up until now they could only dream about.
