Other Children’s Stories

Terezza and Bosco

This is the story of a young girl found dying in the slums of starvation. She didn’t make it, but all was not lost. Her young brother was saved and brought to a new and different kind of life. One with hope for the future, and one in which starvation and disease was not an every day reality.

One of the boys in the orphanage I had been volunteering in, had taken the time to write out his entire life story for me. Peter had hand written the story of his life, a 16 page heart wrenching story telling of his life as a Karamojong in Moroto, and how he came to find himself as a street child in Jinja. His story went on to detail life in the slums of Masese, and the sad reality of his entire family perishing, and him left as a young boy to fend for himself and one remaining young brother. Peter wanted me to see the places he had written about, so he took me to the slums of Masese. This is a place where many of the people from the Karamojong tribe live. He wanted to show me this place so that I could better understand him and who he is.  Click HERE to read on..

In 1994, drought broke out. It got people unprepared.  Click HERE to read on…
